New INEOS Grenadier Trialmaster X LETECH raises off-road bar in UAE
German-engineered conversion tailored for extreme desert and rock terrain
DUBAI – AGMC, in partnership with INEOS Automotive, has unveiled the new INEOS Grenadier Trialmaster X LETECH in the UAE, marking the Middle East debut of the portal axle-equipped off-roader.
The launch coincides with AGMC’s appointment as the exclusive distributor of INEOS Automotive in the UAE, expanding its premium automotive portfolio. The official unveiling took place at the INEOS boutique pop-up gallery at Dubai Design District, introducing a heavily modified Grenadier designed for the region’s most demanding terrains.
Developed in collaboration with German off-road specialists LETECH GmbH, the Trialmaster X LETECH represents the most extreme factory-backed evolution of the Grenadier to date.
Built for customers seeking enhanced capability without compromising on everyday usability, the model combines increased ground clearance, deeper wading ability and purpose-built hardware with the familiar rugged design of the Grenadier platform.
Regional debut
Following its debut at Dubai Design District, the Grenadier Trialmaster X LETECH will be transported to the Rub’ al Khali desert in Abu Dhabi, where it will be showcased at the Liwa Festival from December 12 to January 3. The vehicle will appear alongside the full INEOS Grenadier line-up, with selected models available for onsite test drives. The location, set against the backdrop of the Tal Moreeb dune, underlines the vehicle’s focus on extreme off-road performance in real-world desert conditions.
The Trialmaster X LETECH can be ordered in both Station Wagon and Quartermaster pick-up body styles. Both variants are curated by LETECH to meet demanding off-road requirements while remaining compliant with road use. The model’s elevated stance, reinforced suspension and specialist hardware are designed to tackle dunes, wadis and rocky trails, while retaining the practicality required for daily driving.
Portal axles
At the heart of the transformation is the portal axle system, a feature typically reserved for military or expedition vehicles. The modification relocates the wheel hubs lower than the main axle, significantly increasing ride height without altering the drivetrain. As a result, ground clearance is increased by 186mm to a total of 450mm, while wading depth rises by 250mm to 1,050mm. These changes substantially enhance the Grenadier’s already strong off-road geometry.
The conversion also increases track width and improves axle articulation, enabling greater wheel travel across uneven surfaces. This setup allows the vehicle to maintain traction in deep sand and navigate extremely rocky terrain with greater stability. Despite the extensive mechanical upgrades, the standard drivetrain remains unchanged, preserving the Grenadier’s proven reliability.
All conversion kits are produced at LETECH’s facilities near Stuttgart in Germany and shipped to the UAE for installation by AGMC’s trained INEOS workshop technicians. The suspension overhaul includes a heavy-duty five-link front and rear layout, designed to cope with the increased loads and articulation demands of portal axles.
Powertrain
Powering the Grenadier Trialmaster X LETECH is the award-winning 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder BMW B58 petrol engine. The engine produces 282 hp, or 286 PS, at 4,750rpm, with peak torque of 450 Nm available between 1,750 and 4,000rpm. This powertrain provides strong low-end torque for off-road driving, as well as refined performance on the road.
The engine is paired with the Grenadier’s established drivetrain configuration, ensuring compatibility with the portal axle system while maintaining factory performance characteristics. Larger 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 Mud Terrain tyres are fitted as standard, mounted on Hutchinson Industries beadlock forged alloy wheels, further enhancing grip and durability in extreme conditions.
Equipment package
In addition to the standard Trialmaster specification, all LETECH-equipped models receive an expanded list of interior and exterior features. Inside, the cabin is fitted with leather upholstery and heated front seats, available in black or a grey and black combination. Safari windows, a premium sound system, carpet floor mats and privacy glass are also included as standard.
Exterior details distinguish the model further, with bespoke ‘TRIALMASTER X LETECH’ badging on the A-pillars and door sills. The conversion kit also adds bumper and wheel arch extensions, providing additional protection and accommodating the wider stance.
LETECH-developed accessories form part of the standard package across both body styles. These include a heavy-duty front winch, an off-road running board for easier access, a practical roof rack ladder and six roof-mounted spotlights. Station Wagon models additionally receive a rear ladder with a fuel can holder, supporting extended off-road travel.
Market expansion
Dr Andreas Schaaf, Group Director at AlBatha Automotive Group, described the launch as a significant step for the UAE’s off-road segment. He said the Grenadier Trialmaster X LETECH is positioned to stand out in a competitive market by combining distinctive design with serious off-road capability.
Dan Balmer, Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa at INEOS Automotive, said the introduction of the Trialmaster X LETECH reinforces the brand’s commitment to the region. He highlighted AGMC’s experience in the UAE market as a key factor in supporting customers and expanding INEOS Automotive’s presence.
The launch also reflects INEOS Automotive’s broader journey since its formation in 2017, when Chairman Jim Ratcliffe identified a gap for a modern, uncompromising 4X4. The Grenadier was launched globally in 2022, followed by the Quartermaster double-cab pick-up in 2023, combining British design with German engineering.
AGMC, established in 1976, brings nearly five decades of automotive experience in the UAE and is best known as the exclusive importer for BMW Group vehicles in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates. The addition of INEOS Automotive further strengthens its line-up of premium brands.
